Give-aways are a great idea. Buy some raffle tickets and hand them out, draw numbers from a hat at some point in the night.
Special guest or speaker would also be great. Mark McCormack, Jonathan Page, etc.

Thanks for setting up the blog! I think this site will be great for the year. I agree on the raffle. This could be a nice winter "kickoff" night, but it is also a great opportunity for Landry's to get closer with the best buyers in the area. They could pony up some nice raffle items to help rally some attendance.
A second idea would be to rally around a custom jersey for the year. A few years ago we had the zebra jersey. I think if we had a cool jersey design we could place some orders the night of the get together.
